If you haven’t seen the live stuff Ian and his band did in here for Black in Bluhm session number three you can see it HERE Now they are back to track another epic tune, following the same theme and more or less the same recording process. These guys are so well rehearsed and we were joking today that with only four of these songs you could have an awesome full length! It was nice to take a little more time today on tones as apposed to the “pressure” of the B I B session where you gotta get stuff rolling pretty quick before everyone is too drunk. Always a pleasure to work with these guys!

There are 7 bands filling up every day of April except for Sundays. I’m tired but no complaints! Thanks to the following bands for keeping B.I.B. busy as F this month. #Stabbed in Back #Lawsuit Models #The Hate #No Good Reason #Ian Cooke #Poor Me #Oliver Bravado We are stoked to have you here.

Stabbed in back is a punk band from Albuquerque that just did an EP in two fun filled days here at Black in Bluhm. That mix should be done soon. Thanks to those guys for setting up a show with The Gamits a couple weekends ago and taking us to all the Breaking Bad locations! Oh and the show was fun too.

I’ve been bragging up Sawmill Joe for a while now and as I sit here finishing up the master I’m wishing Black in Bluhm  had the money to put out this album. There’s 14 songs but they are saving 4 of them as bonus tracks or something. If somebody besides the band doesn’t put this out I may have to sell my car for the cause.

Back to work.

Black in Bluhm session #3 was Ian Cooke and band and Open Air has been kind enough to post it for us. We did most everything live ( believe it or not ) only going back to overdub a couple things. There’s so much going on in this song I recommend listening a few times and taking the ride. It’s full of beautiful melodies, cool chord progressions and complex rhythms. Thanks to everyone involved, Ryan McNurney at electraproductions.net for all the video work, Reverie Brewing Company for the fantastic beers, and Rackhouse Pub for yummy pizza. If you haven’t seen the first 2 sessions check them out on Ryan’s vimeo page. They feature Drag the River and Red City Radio.

Just mastered the new album from supergroup Implants featuring members from The Tank, Pulley, Strung Out, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Ten Foot Pole. The album is being released on Cyber Tracks which is the label that El Jefe ( NOFX ) and his wife started. If you like pop punk with some really good musicianship you will be stoked on this. As soon as I finish this post I’m starting on the mix for Denver’s own Allout Helter. They guys tracked it themselves and I haven’t heard a note yet. I have a feeling it’s gonna be rad cause I’ve seen them play live!
